Selected areas in the historical district of Chioggia were analyzed as examples. In the center of the research was not the object (building), but the space, marked off and formed by the objects. Different principles of defining and forming the space, principles of the sequences of spaces as well as the principles of coordinating spaces were detected and analyzed.
